Drake gets a little too close for Paul Pierce’s liking

With 12 seconds left and the Wizards trailing the Toronto 95-93 on Wednesday, Paul Pierce prepared to inbound the ball in front of Canadian rapper and Raptors “team ambassador” Drake.
Drake’s buddies appeared to say something to Pierce before the referee handed him the ball. Pierce then gave Drake, who was standing a little too close for comfort, a gentle shove. Drake found this hilarious.

After John Wall missed a three-pointer at the buzzer, Drake celebrated in the tunnel on the way to the locker room with DeMar DeRozan, who hit the game-winning shot. Had Wall made the shot, Drake, a Kentucky fan, likely would’ve been celebrating in the Wizards locker room. Perhaps then we would’ve learned what exactly was going on between him and Pierce.

We know as a team that we can beat them,” Wall said after the game. “You got to give those guys credit. They made those plays at the end of the game. But we know if we don’t turn the ball over, move the ball side to side and play team basketball, we can defend these guys and beat them. It hasn’t happened in the regular season, but hopefully we get the opportunity in the playoffs.”
And hopefully Wizards creative liaison Wale is sitting courtside, jawing at Kyle Lowry, or just keeping Drake and his entourage in check.
